Privacy policy

Effective date: September 22, 2026

1. Introduction and scope

UCARI, Inc. ("UCARI," "we," "us," or "our") provides this Privacy Policy to explain how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information and how you may exercise available privacy choices and rights.

This Policy applies to UCARI's websites and Shopify store, customer account and results portal, retailer portal, testing and reporting services, Ingredient Checker, customer support, marketing interactions, and UCARI-sponsored access to Nutrable and The Pet Vet Connection, LLC ("PetVet"), together with any other UCARI service that links to this Policy (collectively, the "Services").

This Policy covers information UCARI controls. Shopify, Block, Inc. (which provides Square), Stripe, Inc. ("Stripe"), Anthropic, PBC ("Anthropic"), Nutrable, PetVet, social networks, and other third parties may also process information under their own privacy notices when they provide services to UCARI or interact directly with you.

2. Personal information we collect

Depending on how you interact with UCARI, we may collect the following categories of personal information:

  • Identifiers and contact information, such as your name, email address, telephone number, mailing and billing address, date of birth, username, and account identifiers.
  • Account and authentication information, such as login credentials, verification information, account preferences, and security events.
  • Transaction and commercial information, such as products viewed or purchased, kit identifiers, order history, subscription status, payment status, shipping, returns, discounts, invoices, and customer-service records.
  • Testing, health, diet, and wellness information that you choose to provide, such as symptoms, dietary information, interests, demographic responses, sample registration information, and test results.
  • Information about children or pets submitted by an authorized adult, such as a name or nickname, age or date of birth, species, breed, symptoms, diet, sample information, and results.
  • Ingredient Checker information, such as ingredient text, product name, barcode, label image or photograph, the report or profile selected for comparison, match results, corrections, prompts, generated output, and feature-usage information.
  • Add-on eligibility and activation information, such as a qualifying purchase, offer, benefit period, provider account identifier, activation status, and information you authorize UCARI to transfer to Nutrable or PetVet.
  • Retailer information, such as business name, title, business contact details, resale certificate, tax information, shipping locations, authorized users, orders, invoices, payment terms, and compliance communications.
  • Communications and content, including messages, emails, calls, chat records, survey responses, promotion entries, public reviews, testimonials, and other information you provide through support or social-media channels.
  • Device and usage information, such as IP address, browser, operating system, device identifiers, referring page, pages and features used, approximate location derived from an IP address, timestamps, and interactions with emails or advertisements.
  • Inferences and preferences derived from account activity, purchases, results, Ingredient Checker use, and interactions with the Services, such as likely interests or product preferences.

Some testing, health, diet, wellness, child, pet, and Ingredient Checker information may be considered sensitive personal information or consumer health data under applicable law. We process that information only for the purposes described in this Policy and subject to any consent required by law.

3. Payment information

UCARI uses third-party payment providers to process transactions. Square processes payments for retailer transactions, and Stripe processes payments for subscriptions. Shopify and other commerce providers may process payments for store purchases.

When you make a payment, the applicable provider may collect your name, billing and shipping address, email address, telephone number, payment method details, transaction amount, purchase information, device information, and fraud-prevention information. Complete payment-card details are generally collected directly by the payment provider and are not stored by UCARI. UCARI may receive transaction identifiers, payment status, limited payment-method information, subscription status, and information needed for accounting, refunds, disputes, fraud prevention, and customer support.

Payment providers may process information as UCARI's service providers and for their own legal, security, fraud-prevention, and compliance purposes. Their practices are described in the applicable provider notices, including Square's privacy notice and Stripe's Privacy Center.

4. Sources of personal information

We collect information directly from you; automatically through cookies and similar technologies; from individuals who purchase or register a service for you or a pet; from retailers and business contacts; from Shopify, Square, Stripe, shipping, marketing, analytics, customer-support, fraud-prevention, laboratory, and hosting providers; from Anthropic when it processes Ingredient Checker inputs and outputs for UCARI; from Nutrable or PetVet where authorized; and from public or commercially available sources as permitted by law.

5. How we use personal information

We may use personal information to:

  • Provide, operate, personalize, maintain, and improve the Services.
  • Process orders, retailer payments through Square, subscription payments through Stripe, shipments, returns, discounts, refunds, and customer-support requests.
  • Register kits, associate samples with accounts, process testing, generate and deliver reports, and maintain result history.
  • Extract and interpret ingredient information, compare it with UCARI results, and provide Ingredient Checker output.
  • Determine eligibility for, activate, administer, and support UCARI-sponsored Nutrable or PetVet access.
  • Create and administer consumer and retailer accounts, authenticate users, and protect account security.
  • Communicate about orders, subscriptions, accounts, results, changes, security, provider access, and customer service.
  • Send marketing where permitted and honor opt-out preferences.
  • Analyze usage, troubleshoot, conduct research, develop features, and measure performance.
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, security incidents, and violations of our terms.
  • Comply with legal obligations, protect rights and safety, and establish or defend legal claims.
  • Carry out another purpose disclosed when information is collected or with your consent.

6. How we disclose personal information

We may disclose personal information to the following categories of recipients:

  • Service providers that support hosting, laboratory operations, fulfillment, shipping, communications, customer support, security, analytics, professional services, and other contracted functions.
  • Shopify and commerce providers to operate the store, checkout, fraud prevention, payments, and related commerce functions.
  • Square to process retailer payments, invoices, refunds, disputes, fraud checks, and related transaction services.
  • Stripe to process subscription enrollment, recurring payments, invoices, refunds, disputes, fraud checks, and related billing services.
  • Anthropic to provide artificial-intelligence processing used by Ingredient Checker, as described below.
  • Nutrable to activate and provide the nutrition service you request.
  • PetVet and participating veterinarians to activate and provide the veterinary telehealth service you request.
  • Analytics and advertising partners to measure use, attribute campaigns, and deliver advertising where permitted.
  • Affiliates and corporate transaction parties to operate UCARI or evaluate and complete a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale.
  • Authorities and protection recipients when reasonably necessary to comply with law or legal process, respond to safety requests, or protect UCARI, users, or the public.

We may also disclose information at your direction, with your consent, or in aggregated or deidentified form that is not reasonably capable of identifying you. We will not attempt to reidentify information treated as deidentified where prohibited by law.

7. Ingredient Checker and Anthropic Claude

Ingredient Checker uses automated technology, including Anthropic's Claude API, to help read and interpret ingredient information and generate comparison output. When you use Ingredient Checker, UCARI may process and send to Anthropic the label image or ingredient text you submit, product and barcode information, the UCARI result or profile selected for comparison, related instructions, and technical information necessary to provide and secure the feature.

Anthropic processes that information for UCARI as a commercial service provider. UCARI does not submit Ingredient Checker content to Anthropic for model training. UCARI limits the information sent to what is reasonably necessary to provide the feature and does not send payment-card details to Anthropic. Anthropic may retain and process API inputs and outputs as permitted by its commercial terms, UCARI's service configuration, and applicable law. More information is available through the Anthropic Privacy Center.

UCARI uses Ingredient Checker information to operate the feature, return matches, improve extraction and matching, troubleshoot errors, prevent misuse, maintain security, and support users. Because automated output may be incomplete or inaccurate, you should review the current physical product label and should not use Ingredient Checker as a substitute for medical or veterinary advice or as an allergy-safety determination.

8. Nutrable privacy

If you activate Nutrable, UCARI may disclose the contact, eligibility, account, nutrition, health, and other information described at activation that Nutrable needs to create an account and provide the requested service. Nutrable may collect additional information directly from you and process it under its own privacy policy. UCARI may receive activation, participation, support, or other information from Nutrable as described at activation.

9. PetVet privacy

If you activate PetVet, UCARI may disclose contact, eligibility, account, pet, and other information described at activation that PetVet needs to create an account and provide veterinary telehealth. PetVet and its veterinarians may collect consultation and veterinary information directly from you. PetVet's independent processing is governed by its Privacy Policy.

UCARI may receive activation, eligibility, participation, support, or other information from PetVet where authorized and necessary to administer the UCARI benefit. UCARI does not receive clinical consultation information unless this is disclosed to you and permitted by applicable law.

10. Consumer health and sensitive information

Testing, result, symptom, diet, wellness, Ingredient Checker, nutrition, and veterinary information may qualify as consumer health data or sensitive personal information. UCARI uses this information to provide requested Services, maintain accounts and results, support users, protect security, comply with law, and for other purposes disclosed with any consent required by law.

UCARI does not sell personal health information or use it for targeted advertising. UCARI discloses it only to processors and providers needed to deliver requested Services, as directed or authorized by you, or as required or permitted by law. Where applicable law requires separate consent to collect or share consumer health data, UCARI will present that request at or before collection or sharing.

11. Cookies, analytics, and advertising

UCARI and its partners may use cookies, pixels, software development kits, local storage, and similar technologies to keep users signed in, remember preferences, secure and operate the Services, understand performance, measure campaigns, and provide or limit advertising. These technologies may collect device, browser, IP address, identifier, referral, page, event, and approximate-location information.

You can manage available choices through UCARI's cookie banner or privacy controls and through browser or device settings. Blocking necessary technologies may prevent parts of the Services from functioning. Where required by law, UCARI will obtain consent before using nonessential technologies.

UCARI will process recognized opt-out preference signals, such as Global Privacy Control, where required by applicable law. Traditional Do Not Track signals may not be uniformly recognized because no single industry standard governs them.

12. Marketing and communications choices

You may unsubscribe from promotional email through the link in the message and may follow instructions in a text message to stop marketing texts. You may still receive transactional or service communications about orders, subscriptions, accounts, results, security, and activated services. You may also contact care@ucari.com for help with marketing preferences.

13. Data retention

UCARI retains personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including to provide Services, maintain accounts and results, meet contractual and legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, enforce agreements, and maintain appropriate business records. Retention varies by information type, sensitivity, user expectations, legal requirements, and operational need.

When information is no longer needed, UCARI will delete, deidentify, or securely dispose of it in accordance with applicable requirements. Backup copies may remain for a limited period and be isolated from ordinary use. Information processed by service providers may also be retained under their applicable contracts, security practices, and legal obligations.

14. Security

UCARI uses reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. No transmission, system, or storage method is completely secure, and UCARI cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of account credentials and notifying UCARI of suspected unauthorized access.

15. Children and information about minors

UCARI accounts and online Services are intended for adults. UCARI does not knowingly permit a child under 13 to create an account or independently submit personal information. An authorized adult may purchase or register an eligible service for a child and provide information about that child as permitted by the instructions and applicable law.

If UCARI learns that a child submitted personal information without required authorization, UCARI will take reasonable steps to delete it. A parent or guardian who believes a child provided information without authorization may contact care@ucari.com.

16. United States privacy rights

Depending on your residence and subject to legal exceptions, you may have the right to request access to personal information, correction, deletion, portability, or additional information about collection and disclosure; to opt out of certain sales, sharing, targeted advertising, or profiling; to limit certain uses of sensitive information; to withdraw consent; and to appeal a denied request. UCARI will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

To submit a request, email care@ucari.com. To appeal a decision, email legal@ucari.com. UCARI may verify your identity and authority before acting. An authorized agent may submit a request where permitted, subject to verification. UCARI will respond within the period required by applicable law.

Where UCARI engages in a practice that applicable law defines as a sale or sharing of personal information or targeted advertising, you may opt out through UCARI's available privacy controls or an applicable browser-based preference signal. California residents may also request information concerning certain disclosures for direct marketing under California's Shine the Light law, where applicable. Nevada residents may submit an applicable sale opt-out request to care@ucari.com.

17. Consumer health data rights

Residents of jurisdictions with consumer-health-data laws may have additional rights to confirm collection, access or obtain a list of certain recipients, withdraw consent, delete covered data, or appeal a decision. Requests may be submitted to care@ucari.com. UCARI will obtain separate authorization before selling consumer health data if such a sale is ever proposed and applicable law requires authorization.

18. International users

UCARI operates from the United States. If you access the Services from another country, personal information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries where UCARI or its providers operate. Those countries may have different data-protection laws.

Where the laws of the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland apply, UCARI processes personal data as necessary to perform a contract, comply with legal obligations, pursue legitimate interests that are not overridden by individual rights, and with consent where required. Available rights may include access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, objection, withdrawal of consent, and a complaint to a supervisory authority. UCARI uses an approved transfer mechanism where required for international transfers.

19. Changes to this Policy

UCARI may update this Policy to reflect changes in Services, practices, technology, or law. The revised Policy will state its effective date. If a change is material, UCARI will provide notice through the Services, email, or another reasonable method. Where law requires consent for a new practice, UCARI will request it before that practice begins.
